Holidays (purchase or sell)
Employees would like to have more flexibility when it comes to having less holiday hours or adding more holiday hours.
Most of our employees visit their families who do not live nearby and therefore they want to have the opportunity to have more time to spend and or extend their planned holiday. In other cases employees have not spend their time off balance and would like to sell some hours instead of taking them.
To support this flexibility, Tiqets has set-up the following policy in order to facilitate to buy extra vacation days (i) or sell some vacation days (ii). The conditions are based on the possibility by law in combination with the Tiqets flexibility and feasibility to arrange this.
Holiday hours - general information (CHECK WHAT IS POSSIBLE IN ES)
Every employee has a certain amount of holiday per year, based on their part time factor. For Spain is as follows, based on full time employment (40 hours a week):
(i) Buy extra vacation days (CHECK WHAT IS POSSIBLE IN ES)
For everyone who wants to have a bit more time off, it is possible to ‘buy’ extra vacation days. Tiqets policy allows everyone to request a maximum of 2 weeks extra holiday - based on your full time employment. For part time employment it will be calculated pro rata.
Everyone can send a request to buy an amount of hours to the manager and HRM.
The request will only be honoured if the business interest does not oppose it.
A request to purchase additional vacation days can only be honoured if the leave balance in the current calendar year is insufficient.
The extra days employees bought needs to be taken in the same year - they cannot be transferred to the following year [when you do not take these days you need to sell them again to Tiqets. For more information please contact the People & Cultue team.]
The settlement of the purchased vacation days will take place in the month following the month in which your application was approved. (The exception in this is December. When you decide to sell days in december we will need to process this in the same month.)
The settlement of the purchased holidays takes place on the basis of the wage level of the month in which the holidays are settled
Purchased free hours cannot be carried over to subsequent years
The calculation of buying an extra vacation days depends on your hourly rate. So the amount of hours multiplied by your hour rate will be the amount for which you ‘buy’ these hours.
People and Culture will add these hours to your balance in BambooHR
(ii) Sell vacation days (CHECK WHAT IS POSSIBLE IN ES)
By law it is not allowed to sell the statutory days. Only the non statutory days are allowed to be sold. We are reffering to the 5 extra given days which Tiqets gives to employees on top of the statutory days. This is based on your part time employment and calculated pro rata.
The employee has the option to sell only sell vacation days that exceed the statutory minimum (days given above the law)
You can only sell days of the current year
The request will only be honoured if the business interest does not oppose it.
This request can be done once a year via hrm@tiqets.com
The settlement (payout) is taxed according the law and will be calculated automatically via the payroll system based on your wage level
The settlement of the vacation days sold will take place in the month following the month in which your application was approved. (The exception in this is December. When you decide to sell days in december we will need to process this the same month)
